Richard Wagner
The Rare Wagner
Overtures and Marches
Overture: Liebesverbot
Huldigungsmarsch
Kaisermarsch
Overture: Die Feen
American Centennial March
Marek Janowski
London Symphony Orchestra
We are BIG Wagnerians - and this LP is well recorded, played and conducted. It is full of musical turns which Wagner never took - BUT, there is one work on here which is both funny and dreadful - The grandly named 'Grosser Festmarsch zur Eroffnung der Hundertjahringen Gedenkfeter der Unabhangigkeitserklarung der Vereiningten Staaten von Nord–Amerika' (American Centennial March). This work is poor by any standards but by Wagner it is especially embarrassing. However, it was composed simply for cash - so we suppose he must be forgiven. Still, it is great fun.

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
