Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Requiem
Irmgard Seefried, Gertrude Pitzinger, Richard Holm, Kim Borg
Chorus of the Vienna State Opera
Vienna Symphony Orchestra
Eugen Jochum
Recorded in the Stephansdom, Vienna, this is from a Concert as a memorial to Mozart (Hmmm! Rather late in the day for that) You will not get a dramatic reading of the score but, instead, a deeply felt and quietly moving performance. Jochum was not known as a flashy conductor and this LP is a document to that reputation. The soloists are uniformly excellent and the balance is very good with the Stephansdom providing a wonderful resonance. There is a rather odd bell which clangs out towards the nd - part of thre memorial service one presumes but the performance is well worth investigating.
Recorded: 1955
Cover contains a commentary in English and text in Latin

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
