Richard Wagner
Die Walküre Act 1
Maria Müller, Wolfgang Windgassen, Josef Greindl
Württembergisches Staatsorchester Stuttgart
Ferdinand Leitner
This is a remarkable sound document which has been sabotaged by the DG engineers. The sound is thin and chambery which is sad because the unsung hero of Wagner conducting, Ferdinand Leitner, conducts this Act 1 of 'Die Walküre' with great sensitivity. Maria Müller is way past her prime but she still turns in a warm and lyrical performance. The young(ish) Windgassen is as solid a Wagnerian tenor as ever and the black voiced Josef Greindl makes up the trio of singers.

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
