Janet Baker, mezzo soprano
Hallé Orchestra
John Barbirolli

The Autographs were collected at different times outside the Royal Festival Hall, London circa 1969
This LP really can be classed as one of the 'Great Recordings of the Century'. It is difficult to write about this version of these magnificent sets of Lieder by Mahler as everything about it is stunning. Baker's scaled down voice suits each song perfectly and to have a version of 'Ich bin der Welt' is a bonus. Barbirolli, as ever, shows what a brilliant conductor he was and his sensitivity shines through in every bar. This pairing of singer and conductor is made in Paradise. A highly recommended LP indeed!

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
