Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Manfred Symphony
Philharmonia Orchestra
Paul Kletzki
As wilth all Kletzki recordings, this is a highly Romantic yet dramatic reading of Tchaikovsky's 'Manfred'. There are some cuts in the score but that was usual for the time. The sound is warm and, although it may not have the immediacy of many later recordings, the work still manages to come over.
