Richard Wagner
Götterdämmerung
Manfred Jung, Franz Mazura, Hermann Becht, Fritz Hubner, Gwyneth Jones, Jeanine Altmeyer, Gwendolyn Killebrew, Norma Sharp, Ilse Gramatzki, Marga Schiml, Ortrun Wenkel, Gabriele Schnaut, Katie Clarke
Bayreuth Festival Chorus and Orchestra
Pierre Boulez
Although this production of the last opera in 'Der Ring' now seems pretty tame, when it was first produced it caused an uproar. This 5 LP set allows us to judge the performance without the visual aspect of the production. The cast is excellent with many fine singers in small roles - as often happens at Bayreuth. There is no point in commenting on the individual singers as this recording is too well known. Boulez's conducting keeps the music flowing and he pushes the score forward without rushing it. The sound is fairly near to actually being in the opera house.
Recorded: 1979

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
