Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano Concerto No. 21
Piano Concerto No. 22
Annie Fischer, piano
Philharmonia Orchestra
Wolfgang Sawallisch
Annie Fischer was never a flashy pianist but her musicianship shines through every note and phrase of these two concerti. There is a delicacy in her interpretations and even the now famous slow movement of the 'Piano Concerto No 21' is never over-indulged. Sawallisch supports her with great sensitivity and, although the balance slightly favours the soloist, it never overwhelms the orchestral contributions.
