Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Don Giovanni
Siepi, Edelmann, Grümmer, Schwarzkopf, Dermota, Berger, Berry, Arie
Chorus of the Vienna State Opera
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
Wilhelm Furtwängler
At a time when 'private' recordings were highly illegal, certain 'under the counter' record producers had pressings made. Many of these pressings were a rather hit and miss affair. Morgan Records were the exception to this rule. They specialised in good quality recordings and their pressings were of a commercial standard. The cast is excellent with Siepi and Edelmann making an almost perfect blend as the two leads. Grümmer, and Schwarzkopf are in glorious voice and the rest of the cast match the quality of singing. The real delight of the set is the acting and balance between the singers and orchestra. Furtwängler's conducting is utterly magnificent. His tempi are always just right and he never lets the score drag. Naturally, as this is a live performance there is a fair amount of bumping and banging but it never overwhelms the performance. This set is a must for all lovers of great singing and 'Don Giovanni'.

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
