Richard Wagner
Lohengrin
Franz Völker, Walther Grossmann, Ludwig Hofman, Jaro Prohaska, Maria Müller, Margarete Klöse
Chorus and Orchestra of the Berlin State Opera
Robert Heger
Although this LP set is taken from a live performance at the Berlin State Opera in 1942, the sound is remarkably good. The cast includes all the top names for these roles indeed, it is almost the same cast as appeared in Bayreuth in 1936. Generally, the sound is pretty constant in its quality but there is a little fiddling of the volume knob when a particularly loud passage comes along e.g. the transformation passage in Act 3. The performances are excellent with the whole cast acting to great effect. The conducting is majestic but Heger never forgets the drama.

Our records have always been handled with care and stored correctly. However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
