Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
1812 Overture
Hamlet - Fantasy Overture
London Philharmonic Orchestra
Adrian Boult
As these recordings were made in the early 1950s, you must not expect super-sonic sound. In the '1812'. there are no effects but simply glorious orchestral playing and fine conducting. The 'Hamlet Overture' is less familiar than either the '1812' or 'R and J' but it deserves better recognition. Boult treats the work with passion and plenty of force. This LP is a must for fans of Boult but not for those who wish to hear cohorts of cannons and the massed pre-recorded addition of every church bell in Moscow.

However as we are disposing of our entire record collection, time precludes us playing every single item to check whether there are any faults that are not apparent from a purely visual check. To avoid any dispute buyers should be aware that they buy our vinyl with the above proviso in mind.
